Hiking routes, hiking tours, hiking trails for
hiking friends:
Hiking route 1 – wine hiking trail in southern direction
From the tavern "Stahl" you hike through the vineyards to the
Pfalz view with view towards the Rhine river valley, Kaub, castle Gutenfels and water
castle Pfalz on the Rhine.
Then over the Rhine hills to the outlook "Sauzahn" and in the
"Steeger Tal" ("Steeger" valley) to the historical wine city Bacharach
on the Rhine river (180 minutes). From the train station Bacharach, train connections
every hour back to Oberwesel. From the train station Oberwesel to the tavern
"Stahl" 2 km.
Hiking tour 2 – wine hiking trail in northern direction
From the tavern "Stahl" you hike to the Muhlenweg (Mill way) downhill to
Engeholl. From there uphill through the vineyards with view towards the castle Schonburg
past the historical Oberwesel. At the northern city end of Oberwesel over the wine trail
to the "Siebenjungfrauenblick" (seven virgins view). Here you have a wonderful
rest with view in the Rhine river valley and towards Oberwesel. Then onward with a hiking
map in direction of Urbar over the Rhine hills path to the Lorelei view "Maria
Ruh" with view to the opposite laid Lorelei rock, St. Goarshausen and the castle Katz
(cat). From there over Biebernheim and along the fortress Rheinfels to St. Goar (200
minutes). From the train station St. Goar every hour back with the train to Oberwesel.
From the train station Oberwesel to the wine tavern "Stahl" 2 km.
Hiking tour 3 –
the romantic Ehrbachtal
The Ehrbachtal stretches from Boppard-Buchholz in the Hunsruck (20 minute drive way
from the wine tavern "Stahl") to Brodenbach on the Moselle river and can be
hiked through within 4 hours. On the way through this spot of Earth four managed mills
(Hiera-Muhle, Daubesberger Muhle, Eck-Muhle) invite to a rest and three medieval castles
(castle Schoneck, Ehrenburg, ruin Rauschenburg), summon you up to discovery.
Hiking tour 4 – the bizarrely Baybachtal
The actual Baybachtal (parallel to the Ehrbachtal) is a narrow ravine, where the
rocks grow as high as a church tower on its sides out of the brook bed. You must
absolutely reconnoiter the slate caves right behind the old mill
"Schmausemuhle". The caves are relics from a time as the far over the boundaries
of the region known Hunsruck was built. The Baybachtal by Gondershausen near Emmelshausen
in the Hunsruck mountains can be reached by car in 20 minutes from the
tavern Stahl.
